When Was The Last Time You...

Today I had a conversation with an amazing lady! I'll tell you more about her and what she's doing later. After we got off the phone I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to challenge all of you!

Question:

When was the last time you asked your parents or grandparents or great-grandparents or anyone else significant in your life to tell you a story about themselves? Tell you something about their past? A lesson learned? A simple memory or moment they cherish?

Do me a favor...today, NOT tomorrow or next week, or next year, ask one of them to tell you a story! Something that you can save, preserve and cherish for yourself and pass on to your children. Don't wait...

That is such great advice! We made family history albums last year (you would be proud) and have lots of grandparent stories in them.

My mom lives with me so, we get stories all the time and my MiL wrote a book about her life. We are truly blessed in this regard:-)

Thanks for stopping by my blog today and leaving such sweet comments! I hope to see you back there soon:-)

This is a great idea. When I was 11 or 12, I had to give a speech for a 4-H project and I decided to talk about my grandfather's experience in WW2. So my dad and I drove up to NJ and I intereviewed him for about 2 hours. He passed away about a year later and it's so cool that I heard about some part of his life first hand (we weren't very close and he wasn't much of a talker anyway). I also have the cassette tape of the recorded conversation stashed away somewhere...

It is so funny that you posted this. I had my in-laws for dinner last night and after dinner they were telling us about how they remember their first TV and then first color TV, first remotes... stuff like that. My husband had never really heard any of those stories, so it was nice.
